SICILIAN OFFICER’S SWORD

Kingdom of the two Sicilies, dated 1843. Gilt hilt with asymmetrical thick edged shell guards , the right with a high relief helmet and the left with inset iron protective band for wear with a cuirass. Wire wrapped grip. Fine 30 ¼” flattened diamond section blade decorated with foliage, military arms and VIVA IL RE FREDINANDO II and motto REAL CORPO DEL GENIO opposite. (Ferdinand II, 1830-59). The base with Labruna Napoli 1843. Excellent with considerable original gilt and the locket from its scabbard.
