Gilt bronze, size 8 ¼. 2.3mm rounded face band flaring to the oval bezel which is inscribed with six cabalistic ciphers. These ordinarily are cut with random marks to serve as a signet, representing the owner’s signature. This example had specifically crafted ciphers as found on the rings of sorcerers (seers), known in ancient Rome as augurs. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored.
