OTTOMAN TURKISH FLINTLOCK PISTOL, 18TH-EARLY 19TH CENTURY

Long elegant example, 18 ½” overall. 1 3/8” barrel with top flat and fore sight, swamped muzzle and octagonal breach walnut full stock engraved in foliage and struck with two proof or maker’s marks. Walnut full stock crisply carved in foliage and geometry throughout with silver wire inlay to the wrist. And intricate pierced pewter escutcheon. Brass furniture and curved plate lock relief engraved in rococo motifs. The lock complete. The main spring is off the tumbler possibly to preserve it from careless dry firing. Easily reset if desired.
