OTTOMAN MILITARY SABER

Mid 19th century. Bronze hilt with incised decoration of abstracted floral form. Broad spatulate cross guard in the Western taste. Lobed pommel with ring for a sword knot or wrist thong. 27 1/2 broad fullered deeply curved s.e. blade shows glossy finish with black oxidation speckles. The Ottoman saber as it evolved embracing Western styling and construction.
