JAPANESE 1875 PATTERN OFFICER’S SWORD

Good quality hilt well detailed in deep relief and pierced foliage. Remnants of gilt in protected areas. Wire wrapped buffalo horn grip. Leather sword knot lacks its tassel. 27” plated blade with etched temper line in original preservative. Unplated scabbard with light gray patina and patches of water stain oxidation. Early example which probably served in a Russo-Japanese War of 1904- as well as serving in WWII.
