The hilt of flamboyant form with broad faceted ears and elaborately figured medial. The scabbard throat decorated to match. 21 3/4" pattern welded blade with linear lamination and distinct broad hardened edge contrasting with the softer core metal. The scabbard embossed in high relief with foliage motifs and monster head tip. Excellent throughout with fine uniform patina. Complete and undamaged. See Walters Art Museum 51.428 for a similar example.
