Iron hilt. The pommel and grip faceted, oval guard and elegantly recurved cross guard with large disk terminals. Pommel, guard and cross guard decorated with clusters of faceted studs, all intact. Chain knuckle bow removed. 33 1/4" plain fighting blade of hollow triangular section. Hilt bright with slight surface gray patina to the grip and pommel from handling. Blade shows smooth mottled gray patina as well. Especially elegant example of the type of sword which evolved to serve in the French social scene as well as provide substantial personal protection during the French Revolution.
