FINE ROMAN SIGNET RING, 100-400 AD, SIZE 9 1/2

Gilt bronze, size 9 1/2+ with well rounded 3.8mm band. Band edge circular bezel crisply cut with an abstracted figure, probably an animal, perhaps a sheep. These rings served as signets and sometimes amulets. The figures were applied after the ring was purchased and were reflections of the owner's life and spiritual references. The abstraction is due in part to the use of rotary tools, and that its meaning was personal, not meant to impress others. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restore. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
