2 1/8” length with conical (base damaged) socket supporting the barbs. Capable of penetrating the light padded armor of the Saracens, and inflicting a lethal wound. The shaft could be affixed to the socket with a mildly adhesive substance such as egg albumin which would release if an attempt was made to dislodge the arrow, leaving the head in wound. This and the following two are the finest examples from our own collection. All were found along the route from the Holy Land.
