Fine and Rare Sudanese Hand Lance

Mahdist War of 1885, made specifically to penetrate a British Red Coat. 24 ½” length. Finely forged iron head with bodkin point over a scored rack with opposing vicious opposing barbs. Iguana skin covered haft and iron coil base counterweight. Excellent for the period throughout. Ordinary spears were made for a lightly protected native adversary and could produce slashing body wounds. The British uniform provided ample protection against that, and the thrust became the attack with the greatest chance for success. This spear is designed specifically to penetrate the Red Wool British Army jacket!
