From the William Fagan Premier Collection

Bronze hilt with trefoil pommel, a reference to the cross. Tapered hexagonal grip, transversely reeded, with expanded base. 6 ½: wedge section tapered through its length. See European Cut and Thrust Weapons, Muller/Kolling/Platow #64 for a closely related example formerly in the Gay Collection, Paris. The grip dented primarily to the left side. Survival rate for early daggers is very low as they uniformly were reused as utility knives and consumed by repeated sharpening. This example survives in remarkable condition.
