CELTIC VOTIVE BELL NECKLACE, 7th-5th CENTURY BC

Silvered bronze, over ⅞” (0.89”) height plus the loop. Cast with thickened edge and top. The plain form as our item A1419 are generally acknowledged as exchange objects (money) and frequently are encountered with pieces chipped out.  This example was clearly was more important and likely made for an important votive (sacrificial) purpose. Unlike the plainer examples, the bell edge has had no chips removed.  Found in Ireland, England (Scotland) and Western Europe. Very rarely encountered.
