BLACK FOREST ROE DEER TROPHY MOUNTS SET OF SIX

Matched, with identical hand carved wood mounts in typical Black Forest craftsmanship and themes. These six, selected for their symmetry and compatibility from a group of over 100, which originally decorated a Black Forrest hunting lodge. Of the few which were dated, all were in the 1880’s. These date to the fall hunts which provided meat for the winter to royalty. These great harvests were a combination of sport and necessity where volume, rather than quality was the objective. While the racks of near all the kills were mounted, many were stunted or distorted. These are the best set of six from over 100 mounts.
