6th-7th century AD. Midle Eastern, Holy Land. Dating to the period after the fall of Rome, referred to as the Dark Ages or Early Middle Ages. Buff terra cotta, 3 1/2” length, of circular form with extended spout, charred from use. The shoulders with raised stylized serpentine motifs. The top with a ridge enclosing the spout and filler mounted with the thumb nub. Excellent for the period with light encrustation from burial. The high points with original smooth polished surfaces.
