ORIGINAL ENGLISH LITHOGRAPH, Sir Edmund Bury Godfrey

Original lithograph of Sir Edmund Bury Godfrey, Justice of the Peace for Middlesex. Godfrey was a murder victim for which Robert Green and Lawrence Hill were executed in 1678 and 1679 respectively at Tyburn. The circumstances of his murder involved anti Catholic  reaction to a spurious Popish plot to replace Charles II with his catholic brother with a polarizing effect on the populus.
