Silvered bronze, oval form with a raised scalloped edge bezel with a five point star (pentagram) on hatched field. The center with a cabalistic cipher. The form of the decoration accords with more common Christian rings of the period, representing the Star of Bethlehem. However, at the time, the Star of Bethlehem was depicted with four points. This is an effort to superficially emulate the Christian symbol using the five point variation. It demonstrates the blend of Paganism with Christianity prevalent at the time and which survives to a lesser extent today in the form of superstitions and “good luck charms” which in fact, are a form of amulet. Professionally refurbished for modern wear with the pure silver overlay restored. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
