JAPANESE LACQUER BOWL AND COVER

19th century. Superior quality earlier example. 4 5/8" diameter with bowl of recurved profile. Both in deep red body color with gold rims. The top with lovely diving bird above budding branches executed in shades of pure gold. Clearly representative of spring and used on a special occasion, possibly Golden Week.  Small shrink check/flake to the bowl.
