Brown terra cotta with black slip surface. Just under 4 ¼” (4.22”) height of iconic form with flared foot and rim. Inverted poppy form body and strap handle with double band to the neck. See Brooklyn Museum for a example, virtually identical including size, in the Brooklyn Museum where it states “Bilbils were shipped in great numbers from Cyprus to Egypt. They resemble inverted poppy plants, and recent chemical analyses reveal that some of these vessels contained opium, a poppy extract.” Light surface soiling with most of the black surface intact. Suitable for an ancient Egyptian collection.
