Fine large example of forged iron. Wedge section blade with a slightly upturned point on the scramseax tradition, possibly indicating Scandinavian ownership as the Vikings fought valiantly in the Crusades after their conversion to Christianity. Broad tapered tang pierced for attachment of bone or antler scales, now perished. Slightly under 9 ½” in length with fine profile and stable surface.
