8” opened length with carved boxwood body scored to imitate antler. 3 ½” blade of thin section, with a maker’s mark or punch to the left side. Made without a back spring as typical for early examples. See Swords and Blades of the American Revolution, Neumann, #36.K for a very similar example. Blade gray with original sharpening but no loss from repeated sharpening, indicating that it was not used a working knife. Most likely it served as a patch knife in a rifleman/s bag.
