Distinctive style with large broad head comprising a dramatically forward angled bit pierced with a saltire and thick fore spike with three circles to each face. The two clearly designed to act in unison to effectively attack or defend by capturing an opponent’s sword, mace, or hammer. The back with a broad fluke with key hole piercing. Integral cheek straps and matching alternate straps secured with an iron ring. 89” total length with wood haft. While Austrian arsenals are known to have stocked thousands of halberds of this type, this example demonstrates the most dramatic variation of the form we have seen. Expected forged lamination and effects of aging.
