LARGE VIKING HEART PENDANT NECKLACE, 9TH-10TH CENTURY AD

Silvered bronze. Just over 1” in width. Near flat section of the exaggerated form with the cusp curved and nubbed quarter points. Additional pentafoil incised motif. Made by the open-face mold technique. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, and integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature.
