Over 1 ¼” (1.30”) height, made by the open face mold technique. Gilt bronze of elongated form with deeply cusped top and nubs at the quarter points. The edge is defined with an incised line. Plain flat field suggesting provincial or colonial manufacture, perhaps Iceland. For Vikings, the heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, and attributes of the warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the pure silver surface restored on an 18” gilt Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear.
