Danelaw England. Finely forged iron, 3 3/4" length. The tapered socket with a butted seam.  The point medially ridged both sides and suitable to penetrate the leather and padded cloth armor of the period. Used in large-scale raids where substantial resistance was anticipated. Such raids often involved entire coastal towns on the Mediterranean. Excellent excavated condition and professionally conserved.
