Large example, about 1 1/8” width. Gilt bronze, made by the open face mold technique. Broad borders enclosing  an elegant scrolling trefoil, a popular Viking motif. For Vikings, the heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, and attributes of the warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Surface textured from burial.
