Iron hilt with slotted cup decorated dragons in foliage and the arms of Spain. Angled terminal cross guard, ribbed grip and vase form pommel. 29” Blade with long false edge, the forte decorated in panels of foliage both sides. The decoration suggesting that this is a product of the Toledo industry which in the 1860’s started producing fine reproduction of early edged weapons. The absence of the country of origin, required after 1898, suggests its manufacture before that date. Minor superficial oxidation freckling only consistent with its age and crisp throughout.
