Early example which probably served in a Russo-Japanese War of 1904- as well as serving in WWII. Good quality hilt well detailed in deep relief and pierced foliage with gold overlay in protected areas and showing the hand brush strokes of fire gilding. Wire wrapped black natural horn grip. 27 1/4” (minor flaking to the point). plated blade with “temper line” etched in plated scabbard with small dents and 95+% plating intact. A fine sword from a samurai family which served in the Pacific theater.
