Early 19th century. Copper pommel and sheath, plated with tin or zinc, now oxidized. The scabbard relief decorated with serpentine Buddhist dragon with fierce open mouth. Fine wire wrapped grip. 7 ½” thick wedge section blade, with narrow fuller, shows some forged lamination, light tool finish and careful sharpening. Early example of good large proportions.
