Well made example with 21 1/4" spatulate tipped, slightly curved s.e. blade. The forte inset with a brass anchor in outline indicating contact with and influence of European traders. Two hand hilt with banded terminal brass base and pommel. The grip wound in heavy blue cord. Excellent for the period with light tool marks to the gray lightly patinaed blade. Hilt sound and complete with fine aging. Original wood scabbard secured with blue cord bands (six missing). Splinters to the tip and top seam. Earlier than most examples encountered and rare with the image of a European anchor.
