Meiji Period, 1868-1912. 4 5/8" diameter. Black body color inside and out. The cover with high relief built up lacquer decoration of Chrysanthemums in foliage with flowers opened and opening. The inside with two butterflies in the same lacquer pigments. The grip and rim are both gold-edged. Excellent throughout.
