JAPANESE LACQUERED BOWL OWAN

For soup or rice. Late 19th century. 4 5/8" diameter. Both of slightly recurved profile. Tapered grip and foot. Tomato red body color outside and deep brown inside. The top decorated with high relief gold flower and foliage below a butterfly. All gold decoration is true gold in a lacquer matrix. Produced by the true lacquer (not paint) process which takes months of layering and drying. Additional details to the purchaser. Excellent.
