Early example which probably served in a Russo-Japanese War of 1904- as well as serving in WWII. Good quality hilt well detailed in deep relief and pierced foliage. Remnants of gilt in protected areas. The back strap with a silver mon of crossed hawk feathers. That mon indicates that the officer was of samurai heritage of the Takagi family. Good aristocratic example.
