South Indian probably Maratha. About 6 1/4” length with forged tool finished tang and cylindrical bolster to the broad crescent form point. The Maratha were to opponents of the Moghuls until the 19th century when British dominance overruled both powers. The purpose of these arrows is the subject of debate. Indeed, double-pointed arrows were used throughout history by numerous cultures with no clear history of their purpose. One theory is that they inflicted a vicious wound prone to infection rather than the clean puncture of a conventional arrow.
