15 3/4” d.e. blade, slightly tapered with acutely angled point. Brass mounted hilt with foliage surrounding a sacred cipher. Reeded wood grip. “Tortoise shell” covered scabbard with four mounts matching the hilt. Well used with a few small damages to the scabbard covering and wear to the mounts. Grip not cracked as usually found. These are associated with the river pirates on the nearly 4000 mile long Yangtze River. New York to San Francisco is under 3000 miles for comparison. The Yangtze was the life line from the depths of China to Shanghai on the China Sea and beyond. It supported massive commerce which attracted river pirates who murdered crews and stole their ships and cargo.
