Forged iron nail from Dunbar’s Camp. Hand scribed note on the back of a folded card titled Arnold’s  Expedition to Quebec. The text: Wagon nail from the Bradford campaign 1755. Dug at Col Dunbar’s supply camp in 1976. Approximately 150 wagons were burned and their contents destroyed as the British retreated from the frontier. This nail was used and is possibly from one of the burned wagons or artillery caissons. That retreat followed the Battle of Monongahela where the British were savaged with over 900 casualties of 1400 troops.  See https://www.nps.gov/articles/braddock-campaign.htm for detailed account. The nail is hand forged, 2 ¼” length with broad rounded head.
