10th-13th century, west Mediterranean.  3 5/8” length, finely forged with low ridge on one side and the other side flat. Very elegant form with long slender barbs and opened seam conical socket. Dating to the most colorful period for the region, the Reconquista, the retaking from the Moors under the Cordoba Caliphate, by Christians. A flesh cutter designed to defeat the lightly protected Moors as well as raiding Vikings. See Nicolle 383c. Very rare.
