Classic example of the type with 6 3/4" jambiya form blade etched with geometric panel at the base and thuluth script panel to the point, both sides. Etching crisp. Surface with a little dark staining and frosty pitting commensurate with its age and use. Contoured bone grip with horn terminal. The scabbard completely covered with bead in various patterns and with five cowries suspended from a bead lattice. Beadwork complete with minor distortions only. Hilt excellent with age checks as expected and good patina. These daggers were worn by the Dervish followers of the Mahdi who were closest to him.
