The period of the Roman conquest of England and Scotland. Forged iron, 5 7/8” length. Straight back blade of very thin section for slashing and unserviceable as a work knife. Broad recurved tang, originally wrapped in leather with ring pommel. As well, the narrow profile made it a fine thrusting weapon. Optimizing both functions, this example is the Celtic fighting knife in its iconic developed form. Professionally conserved condition.
