The 13 5/8" T back blade, d.e. at the point, unmarked. Line engraved horn scale grips with brass mounts in characteristic Zanzabari form. The faces engraved in geometric patterns honoring Islamic constraints. Iron scabbard with ball terminal and double ring suspension. The front engraved overall to match. Original braided wool arm band, faded. Hilt mounts worn with small damages. Horn dry. Light gray patina to the blade with minor storage rust. Dating to the period of Tippu Tip in Zanzibar and probably traded from Djibouti where the French established presence in the 1880.
