Antique example, 22 5/8” length, 19th century or earlier. A feng shui talisman empowered to ward off evil, these were hung in windows and on baby’s cribs. In particular, they were used to protect against fever. Made of old cash coins formed as a sword with separate coin suspensions. The sword form invokes Zhong Kui, the Taoist Immortal slayer of demons. A genuine early and unusually large example of an Iconic Chinese talisman.
