Pocket horn was carried in coat pocket or bag by long riflemen. See Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution,  Neumann p.153 #23 bottom right. Made of three pieces of cow horn with an oval body, threaded shoulder, and neck segment, and corresponding threaded combination top and measure with suspension cord remnant. Oval wood base secured with wood pins. Fine age character with expected minor graining of the horn and a few cracks/checks as shown.
