FINE COLONIAL AMERICAN COMBINATION HORN, C.1750-80

C.1750-80. 8 ¾” length plus the stopper. Natural horn with tapered cone spout sized to fit the small long rifle bore. Low domed base, and ribbed bronze suspension stud. The horn slightly shrunk to embrace the wood. A few small insect holes but very sound with fine mottled patina. Wonderful age character. Used in this size to carry both the finer grain priming powder or primary powder when relatively few charges were anticipated. Great Revolutionary War character.
