.52 cal. Lead bullet, 1 ½’ length with double ringed base and slightly inset faceted body. Possibly for the Sharps rifle or a special long range load. This example with distinct teeth marks to the conical top. Teeth marked bullets, occasionally encountered, result from the stress of battle and in particular, for snipers who hid concealed in relatively close proximity to the enemy. This example is reputed to have belonged to a Confederate sniper which accords with its size and caliber.
