Iron axe head inset with a copper pique one side and engraved with geometry and stylized foliage both sides. Wood haft with originally with a metal base piece, removed upon retirement of the owner to allow use in wood floor buildings. Engraved brass spine and three bands, one incomplete and another cracked.  Charming hand work and ageing. These were carried by shepherds for protection against wolves and human attackers.
