19th century, 30 ½” length with a black japanned tapered shaft. The horn grip shaped as a war hammer with a silver faceplate. A variant of the fokos, the Hungarian shepherd’s axe is carried for protection against wolves. The tip mount is long gone, otherwise very good for the period.
