37 5/8” length plus the tang. Double back fullered with long false edge forming a spear point. Blade of this type were produced in Germany and exported throughout Europe and America. In England they were mounted as horseman’s swords. In Scotland, they were mounted with basket hilts. This example has never been mounted and its thick tang would have been forged out for nearly another inch and shaped for peening and assembly of the sword.
