Late 19th century. 32” tapered blade with squared tip as these were made for slashing only. The blade with narrow offset fuller each side, bears a manufactures mark indicating that it is made from something else, perhaps a piece of agricultural equipment, and now with rough tool finish. Leather covered cross guard, engraved tubular brass grip and stacked metal pommel. Original red tooled leather scabbard with both suspension band, shrunk and now seats the blade 1 ½” short. Scarce as the complex construction of these doomed most to recycling after deterioration.
