North Philippines. Captured during the Philippines Insurrection. From the General Harry Bandholtz Collection which won first prize at the 1905 Saint Louis Exposition. Stone 278, #4, 70.  58 3/4" length. Well forged slightly elongated iron head with asymmetrical barbs. Hardwood haft tapered through its length with heavy woven split cane socket. Iron base spike. Shows use with some wear and surface encrustation. Head crisp with mottled gray patina. Captured by American forces during the Philippine Insurrection of 1899-1902 and became part of the Bandholtz collection of Philippine military weapons.
