Mahdist period C.1885. 7 3/4" curved d.e. blade, native forged with slight stipple finish as made and polished bright. the hilt and scabbard finely formed with waisted conical grip, flared base and thickened throat. The scabbard bottom of thick oval section, waisted in proportion to the grip. Grip and scabbard completely covered in red/brown leather tooled in bands of bisected ovals flanked by line bordered hatched bands. Best quality example we have encountered, in very superior preservation.
