8 1/4” dia. (slightly out of round from wood shrinkage as expected) with flared edge in alternate plain and toothed segments. The flat top incised in triangular and houndstooth patterns inlaid with lime. The bottom with four clusters of legs flanked by incised lime inlaid decoration matching the top. The legs in three groups of three and one of four as made and verified by the decorative infill. All 13 legs complete and uncracked despite being carved across the grain. Fine patina throughout with contrasting graining to the wood and minor grain opening. Lime inlay about 70% intact. Rare and exceptional example dating to the period of rampant cannibalism in Fiji.
